In a single-car accident, a driver under a clear sky hit a utility pole along Hillside Avenue, near Burkhard Avenue, Williston Park. A passenger was killed. The driver and another passenger had serious injuries. Newsday here writes of sun glare, but I note that it was mid-day. Puzzling. The story gives no indication of direction or turning.

Old Country Road, 3.9.2007

Newsday 3.11.2007 reported that an 84-year-old grandmother was killed while making a left turn from westbound Old Country Road, Westbury. Time: after 9 a.m., Friday morning, 3.9.2007. She was broadsided by a Jeep Cherokee, which hit the car on the passenger side. Because Newsday reports that she was making a left turn into a parking lot at The Source, it is unclear whether she turned at a signal. Link here.

Sidney Place, Valley Stream 3.7.2007

A little before 10 p.m., March 7, 2007, a 19-year-old man driving east on Sidney Place, Valley Stream, swerved on a curve and was killed when he hit a westbound truck. There was a problem of re-frozen thin ice on local streets that night. The deceased was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.
