Newbridge Rd, N. Bellmore, 12.29.2007

A motorcyclist was riding south on Newbridge Road somewhere in North Bellmore when a motorist made a left turn from the right-hand lane, cutting him off. The cyclist died at the hospital. This happened about 6:30 p.m. on December 29, 2007.

Glen Cove Road, 12.28.2007

About 11:30 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2007, a driver was killed on Glen Cove Road near the intersection of I. U. Willets Road, Old Westbury. The deceased was driving south and somehow collided with a northbound truck. Glen Cove Road here has four lanes. The newsday.com article is here.

Covert Ave., 12.23.2007

Shortly after sundown on Sunday, December 23, 2007, Lucrecia (or Lucretia) Jara was struck as she crossed Covert Avenue at Third Avenue, New Hyde Park. According to 1010wins.com here, she was crossing westbound when a southbound black sedan struck her and kept going. Third Avenue here is parallel to the railroad tracks, along the south side of the tracks. As it is an intersection, state law requires drivers to yield to pedestrians crossing the street. Jericho Tpk, Westbury, 12.18.07

Sad to relate, a man was killed on Jericho Turnpike near Waterbury Lane about 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2007. Waterbury Lane enters Jericho Turnpike from the south. It does not cross Jericho Turnpike, which has a grassy median there. The signal is a block east. The newsday.com article is here.

Sunrise Hwy, Freeport, 12.19.2007

Unfortunately, a man was killed crossing Sunrise Highway at Liberty Avenue on Wednesday evening, December 19, 2007. He was struck by an eastbound car. The newsday.com story is here.

Lakeville Road, 12.18.2007

Sad to relate, a pedestrian was struck and killed crossing Lakeville Road just south of the busy intersection with Union Turnpike, New Hyde Park. A southbound car hit this 21-year-old woman at Rose Lane about 5:20 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2007. It was already dark.

Jericho Turnpike, Syosset, 12.7.2007

An early morning crash on Jericho Turnpike, just east of the signal at South Oyster Bay Road, Syosset, took the life of the driver. It was about 3:30 a.m. when the sports utility vehicle overturned on a slight curve. Ice may have been involved. See Newsday.com here.

I.U.Willets Rd, 11.28.07

Along I.U. Willets Road in Old Brookville, about 5 p.m. on November 28, 2007, a man backed a truck from a driveway onto the road in front of a westbound Escort, which slammed into the side of the truck. A second car crashed into the accident scene. A few days later, the driver of the Escort, Seymour Schwartz, died in the hospital as a result of his unfortunate injuries.
