About 1 a.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2009, a driver lost his life at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue and Jerusalem Avenue, Uniondale. He was southbound on Hawthorne, when an allegedly inebriated driver was moving west on Jerusalem. An account appeared here in the Long Island Press.

September 17, 2009Newsday reports that a body was found on the roadway that crosses through the park from Hempstead Turnpike to Merrick Avenue. The discovery was made about 9:15 by a northbound motorist. It may be a hit-and-run. The newsday.com story is here.
