January 20, 2009The driver of a car traveling north on Main Street Farmingdale on the night of Monday, January 19, 2009, lost control of her car. When the car hit a light pole and apparently bounced across sto the southbound side of the street, she was killed. Newsday.com has the story, but the location of Grand Avenue is probably supposed to be Grant Avenue, as one can see the old Farmingdale single-screen movie house in the background of the photo.

Jericho Turnpike, Syosset, 12.7.2007
December 7, 2007An early morning crash on Jericho Turnpike, just east of the signal at South Oyster Bay Road, Syosset, took the life of the driver. It was about 3:30 a.m. when the sports utility vehicle overturned on a slight curve. Ice may have been involved. See Newsday.com here.
Sidney Place, Valley Stream 3.7.2007
March 8, 2007A little before 10 p.m., March 7, 2007, a 19-year-old man driving east on Sidney Place, Valley Stream, swerved on a curve and was killed when he hit a westbound truck. There was a problem of re-frozen thin ice on local streets that night. The deceased was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.
